- Monitoring the Company’s and vessels’ compliance with all the SMS requirements and ensuring that all relevant forms are forwarded to the Company and duly kept.
- Familiarizing office staff & sea staff with the SMS requirements.
- Monitoring and follow up all changes in Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental protection legislation.
- Identifying, developing and implementing training requirements and programs
- Conduct ISM and ISPS internal audits
- Ensuring the safe and environmentally sound operation in the office and onboard
- Ensuring that navigation and other key shipboard operations pertaining to his department are carried out according to the SMS.
- Reviewing pertinent voyage inspection and test records
- Reviewing and authorizing instructions and manuals pertaining to the SMS, work onboard, navigation, pollution prevention, environmental management, drug and alcohol, etc.
- Monitoring reports from vessels
- Performing internal audits
- Member of the Emergency Response Team
- Ensuring cooperation with the Technical department regarding vessel performance, maintenance and operational improvements.
- Reviewing appraisal reports of seagoing personnel.
